• In the screencast, we learn how to display news that has so far only been displayed on the start page or, for example, on the construction sites, on subpages, i.e. specifically for certain topics or pages, for areas, just in the area too can display the news about it .
• In order for it to work, you have to create categories on your page, i.e. there are news categories .
• And we had to change something, namely for the news, so I'm going to the List area here, to the List module, there is now a new category in the News, it's called Home News .
• And you can see a small structure here, so there is generally the News category here and below that there are the News start pages .
• This start page News has News as its parent category and I would also suggest that all other other News categories also be created in a tree structure or in a tree structure that corresponds to the website structure .
• We have already assigned all the news that is available to the home page news category so that it is displayed on the home page, i.e. an important change is that the home page only shows those news whose category is also home page news .
• And what we do first is in the area of life and education, education and workshop .
• Wieselburg, we also want to display news that is assigned to the workshop category .
• This means that we will now create a category for life and education, a category for education below it, and a category for workshop Wieselburg below it .
• This may sound a bit complicated at first, but it will certainly help later to find your way around better if it corresponds to the structure of the website .
• To create a category Life and Education, let's do it like this: I click on the name under Life and Education .
• I copy that with control C, go to category Create data record .
• I have to say that we are now basically in the News folder and that's where we create the categories .
• There is an overview of all categories and articles .
• So I copied the title Life and Education, click Create Record, type in or paste that with Copy/Paste, Control+V, I paste that and I also say the parent category is News .
• That means we really create these subcategories here now and I say save and close .
• Then here we have sublife and education, so there's an education subsection, so we do that as a category too .
• I create a new category, Education, and assign this category to the Life and Education category, i.e. it becomes a nice tree structure again and finally Workshop Wieselburg, I copy it, create a category and assign it to the Education area .
• So we have the news category Workshop Wieselburg .
• If we now want to assign the articles to this category, then I can simply search on this page for articles that have a workshop in the title and then I already have the articles here that we ultimately want to have in there, that's in in this case a coincidence, because everywhere in the title workshop is written .
• Otherwise I create a new article and assign it to the category .
• So now I'm just doing an edit, a bulk edit by searching, the articles with workshop .
• I'm clicking on this cover article now, so here I just open up the table with these search results, because now I can do one in the enhanced clipboard, that's at the bottom there, there's the multiple selection mode .
• Can I mark and edit all of them now? .
• Additionally, it makes sense if I just tell myself I don't want to edit all the fields on the items, I just want to edit the categories, below is a list of the available fields .
• I have now selected a category, say set fields and see the currently selected categories here .
• I could go right now and I just want to edit this article and this article just the categories then I select them here in this expanded view so multi select mode and then just click on the categories box on the edit box .
• In this case we want to edit all anyway, you can also select all here, I click on the editing of the categories and can now select anywhere Workshop Wieselburg .
• Home page news is still selected here, i.e. this article is displayed both on home page news, i.e. on the home page, and then with the plug-in that we will use on the Wieselburg workshop page .
• If you don't want that, just disable it .
• So I'm going to choose the News, Life, Education, Education and Workshop Wieselburg category from all the selected articles .
• Here you can see this category structure that was built first .
• Then I choose save and close .
• At the moment, of course, you can't see any changes on the start page, which means that because the articles are also assigned to the News category start page, they are also displayed here, provided they are not too far down .
• The next step is to create a plug-in on the Wieselburg workshop page .
• I will now explain this in detail, but in the future you can simply copy the plug-in and you only have to change the category in the plug-in, i.e. the category for which news is displayed, you can basically just change it in the future just copy the plugin and adjust the category .
• After I want to edit the content of a page, i.e. not my list view, but directly in the page view, I select the Page module here, then Workshop Wieselburg and in this case simply add new content below .
• We want to add a plugin, so I select the Plugin tab and in this case it is the news system, so the current one, so the news is in this case the news system .
• I can now enter a headline here, news, the Wieselburg workshop and in the next tab I can then configure the plug-in .
• So here I can simply see which plug-in is selected, in which case the message system fits .
• I want the output mode here to be simple, the list view .
• I would like to sort it by the specified date of the article, i.e. I can specify a date for every news article or post .
• I would like to have the sorting here and in this case I would like to have it in descending order, i.e. the newest is at the top .
• Then it is important that I also want to set the category mode .
• Here I just select, show news with the selected categories, an unlink, which means I can select multiple categories and only the articles that are in both categories, for example, would then be displayed here .
• I can also select with or , i.e. the articles that are either in category 1 or in category 2 or 3 or 4 would be displayed .
• In this case, I simply select category and and look for the workshop here .
• Here I see again why it is important that we have built a tree, a category tree .
• There is the workshop at the events, at the educational institutions and also internally at the people in Wieselburg .
• So the factory, there's a category called waterworks, I was looking for a workshop .
• But that happens more often too .
• That's why it's important, I know here I'm in News, Life, Education and Workshop, Wieselburg .
• Then I can choose whether all are displayed, all posts or, for example, only active ones .
• There is a certain archive date, which means that an article automatically moves to the archive a certain number of days after it has been posted and is no longer displayed .
• And here I could also say, I would like to display all or I would only like to display archived ones, so I could also create a news archive here or just in this case only active and not archived ones .
• I'm currently not leaving any restrictions here, which means that all are displayed .
• Yes, in principle we can leave the timelineet .
• I could indicate here that I only show top news or no top news, just leave it as it is .
• And the starting point, the starting point defines where the records come from .
• And we are here, we can see here on page 46, are there these news updates and I always do it like this, I first look for this number 46 and then simply enter it here and have the suggestion here and can select it .
• Of course you can also say news, there's more and since I have to look anyway, where is it, so in that case I have the current one in here under data record storage, it's easier for me, I'll remember this number or I just enter this number and then dial it .
• The third possibility is that I don't search, but I click on this folder symbol here and can select the page from the page tree, simply click on News Current and then selected that here as well .
• If we now just go to save or want to look at it, I click on show, .
• say Changes, Save and View and got a view here that doesn't match the home page .
• That's the standard news display, meaning it takes up a lot of space, of course it's an option, it's of course with image preview and so on, it's very practical for looking at, for scrolling through .
• If we want to have a view like on the start page, then you simply have to select Aquadion in the plugin under Template Layout .
• This means that this template layout defines what the list will look like .
• I now select Aquadion and now just go back to Advertisements and see here that we now have the Workshop Wieselburg page, the content, below that we have news, i.e. the headline of the plug-in news from the city of Wieselburg and then we have it here like open the home page also such an Aquadion .
• The advantage of this Aquadion is of course in the case that everything that concerns this news is relatively timeless, since no date is currently displayed for this news .
• At the same time, of course, that's also a disadvantage, because you might be looking at something that's a bit older .
• But you can also see here that it can also be a gleaning at the same time, i.e. that this news can also function as a gleaning .
• Why are they all displayed now? Because I said I want those who are machive too .
• If I really only want these articles that are up to date and not archived, then I can say here that I only want the active ones in the plug-in settings and then I'll probably only see two or three here .
• Exactly, I then have three, whereby the archive date goes relatively far back, or the archive goes back relatively far, so that's even from November, but here you can set how up-to-date this news should be .
• Then automatically, when I go to read an Erfeiter, I basically come back to the detail view area, you also have to change something there, and that's how it is, when I go to details, then I see the same page again and I see the post in detail below, which of course might not be entirely desirable, because of course you have to scroll down again .
• This means that in this case it would be possible for us to say, I would like to have the detailed view directly in the Wieselburg News area, which means that there are news and news articles here, which means that we could link to page ID 123 here, This means that if I look at it again, if I click on Continue, I'll get to the news area, i.e. if I look down here .
• Then it says Wieselburg-GVAT News Article Detail .
• If I click on it, then I'm really back in the news area and then see the details here .
• If I go back, however, in this case I no longer get to the list overview of the news, the standard news, but come back to Education Workshop .
• Back then, we implemented it in such a way that we also came from other areas into the partial view and back to this area where we came from .
• So read on here too, I'm back in the Home News area, successful year end and can go back and come back to Life Education Workshop .
• It is therefore important to always create the category beforehand, and to model the category tree accordingly on the page .
• So if I want to display local council news here, then I do the following, I will create a town hall category, including a city politics category, including a municipal council category and position the blog here .
• As for the blog, we're done on the case now .
• We selected the category here, we said active only .
• It is also very important where the news comes from, that is important because otherwise it could be that from other subpages, we have the municipality of Wieselburg, Mainwieselburg and music school here, that the news could and could come from other areas .
• So we have a blog on this page, it's wonderful to see, the headline, you can see where the content comes from, which category is selected, that only the articles of the category are displayed and where the partial hand view goes .
